Scottish Grand National 2007 Result
It was yet another victory for Ferdy Murphy in the 2007 Scottish Grand national, but better than that was the fact that he trained the first two horses home. Hot Weld won the race with stablemate, Nine de Sivola in second. Hot Weld was ridden by claimer, Paul McDonald and he did it the hardest possible way, leading from start to finish. He jumped soundly throughout the race and became Murphy’s third winner of the Scottish Grand National since 2000. The surprise however was that he finished in front of Nine de Sivola as Murphy had fancied the second to win and indeed he was the 5/1 favourite, while the winner was a 14/1 shot.
Parsons Legacy with odds of 8-1 was just over a length away in third, with 2006 Scottish Grand National winner, Run For Paddy at 12-1 in fourth.
Hot Weld has proven class, he had been a winner at the Cheltenham Festival, also showed great battling qualities when he was joined at the second last fence by Parsons Legacy, it looked like his chance had gone but he held in gamely to the line to win, while Parsons Legacy did not have enough left in the tank and who was also passed by the favourite. For Nine de Sivola it was a second Grand National runner up spot, he had been second in the Irish Grand National.
